PaveSafe 100% Recycled Rubber Pavers for Equestrian Centers, Ranches and Stables

Recently Pacific Pavingstone and Pacific Outdoor Living (POL) installed "PaveSafe" soft pavers at a non-profit ranch called "Ride On" in Chatsworth. Ride On Therapeutic Horsemanship provides therapeutic riding and therapy services to children and adults with physical and mental disabilities. They serve over 170 riders each week at two ranches in Chatsworth and Newbury Park.

Ride On's staff includes certified instructors and physical and occupational therapists. They are assisted by dozens of volunteers using almost thirty horses carefully trained and well suited to the task of teaching the disabled.

Ride On is a Premier Accredited Riding Center of the North American Riding for the Handicapped Association (HARHA).

By installing the 100% rubber soft pavers, it allowed participants to move around the stables and paddock areas more easily and kept the walkways dry, secure and safe for everyone.

Some comments about their new Equine Soft Pavers:

We love it, our riders can now easily and safely access the horses. Brie W.

This means so much for us. Our instructors can safely position the rider to the mounting stations. POL did a great job! Gloria H.

School Pride Blog

We have mentioned the project that has been going on over at Los Angeles Center for Enriched Studies for the filming of the School Pride television show. But we just came across a blog that is written from a student volunteers point of view, and it is interesting to see what they think about the entire process that has taken over their campus. Not only is the project that we handled here at Pacific Outdoor Living mentioned, but also the other renovations as well such as the auditorium, computer lab, culinary arts classroom and more. Lots of the volunteer students and teachers that we got to work with personally can also be seen here too. It's a great read and adds to the excitement of finally seeing the finished TV episode in September.

Yesterday we put the final finishing touches to this massive job. The artificial turf was laid down, all of the ponds were filled and tested, the last plants were all installed, mulch was spread out, and now its time to clean up. Everything went smoother than originally planned and we were actually able to finish within four days rather than five. During the last portion of the build, Kym Whitley returned to the job site and took a tour with Terry Morrill as he explained how the paving stones interlock, and got into some more details on the natural pond system that was installed. Our crews also got some camera time as they were working and are now offering autographs to anyone interested.

The actual unveiling of the project to the students and faculty will take place today and we want to make sure everything looks perfect for them and the cameras. We walked through the project with members of the film crew as they chose focal points for the television show. Outside in front of the school, a ribbon cutting ceremony was being set up for the final walk though with all of the students. Kids, teachers, and the principle of the school were boarding buses at another location and brought in to see what has happened to their school over the past week. The excitement of the unveiling was high, and we can't wait for the premiere of this episode when it airs in September on NBC.

Everyone involved in this project definitely deserves a big thanks, especially the Pacific Outdoor Living crew that worked very hard and long hours to guarantee that this was going to be completed on time. The level of craftsmanship and detail that they show is higher than what is expected in this industry, and makes it easier on us as a company to be proud of the work that we do compared to what we promise. This was one of our favorite projects that we have ever worked on, especially since we were able to help a cause that is definitely being ignored. We hope that many more jobs like this will follow in the future.

The crew got to the job site bright and early today and went straight to work. It is amazing how quickly this job is getting done, we are even ahead of schedule! All of the paving stones have already been laid down and the only thing left to get done is the edge work. Small sitting walls were installed so students now have a place to enjoy their lunch as the stream is running near by. The amount of detail that each of the crew members put on their work has me convinced that they are complete artist at what they do. They are completely organized and know exactly what to do next. This caught the attention of most of the schools faculty and film crew from the TV show.

One of the hosts of School Pride, Kym Whitley, stopped by and met with Terry and Chad Morrill during the construction day. Chad explained to Kym how the pond works without a single chemical to keep it clean, and how it will eventually become it's own self sustaining ecosystem. We were also visited by Susie Castillo again and she took a couple swings with the pick axe as the landscaping crew got the plants in. Susie even spoke to one of our crew members, Patrick Luttrell, and he explained to her how the AquaBlox work to create the disappearing fountain. Terry Morrill also took some time today to walk the schools principal through the job site and see what is being done, needless to say that Dr. Kim was very happy with the progress that we are making and is excited to see it when it is completed. With this being one of our favorite projects that we have ever worked on, we even invited our own office staff to stop by and take a look. It's a great way to see how their work is then installed to create a beautiful landscape.

Currently the crews are placing boulders in the pond and prepping the stream so the smaller rocks can be brought in to fill the water features. The electrical and plumbing for ponds is getting installed. The bridge that goes over one of the streams is now completed and the decomposed granite walkways are being done. Mulch is being spread around for the landscaping and most of the plants are already in. Irrigation lines are finished and already being tested and adjusted. The paver crew is carefully cutting all of the edges to make sure large spaces are not left in between the pavers. Tomorrow will be another big day for the guys as we continue to work hard to get this job completed by the deadline.

We recently mentioned that Pacific Outdoor Living will be featured on NBC's School Pride this September, and today was the first of 5 days of work. The crew arrived early and broke ground fast making this section of the remodel move faster than originally expected. Currently what is being done is the excavation of dirt to make room for the rocks and ponds to be installed in the coming days, also the grading for the paving stones, walkways and landscaping is being done as well.

The local students are also volunteering here at their school, and are swinging axes and pushing shovels to help our crew get the school finished as the film crew catches all of the action. Dirt is being relocated to build up the ponds waterfalls, and streams. Tons of boulders and rocks have already been dropped off which will also be part of the water features. Once the initial demolition is done more materials will be brought in to complete the job.

Owners and designers Terry and Chad Morrill are also present with plans in hand to make sure that everything is done to specifications. The administrative staff have already noticed the quickness in speed that the crew are working to get the job done. A lot has already taken place in just one day, and this is just the beginning. Once the crew finishes and the dust cloud settles, what will be revealed is a beautiful work of art for these students to enjoy for the years to come.

Check in daily as we will be continuing updating what is going on here on the set of School Pride.

NBC is currently filming a brand new reality show that truly gives back to the communities in need. So many schools across the country are in the worst possible shape, and receive little help from the districts into making the necessary improvements.

School Pride is not only taking on the task of making these improvements, but completely remodeling the entire school from the ground up. Take a look at Pacific Outdoor Living on NBC's School Pride.

Pacific Outdoor Living was chosen to participate in this very special event, as they remodeled the Los Angeles Center For Enriched Studies in Culver City. The school was built in the 1940's and has seen tons of wear and tear throughout the years of constant use. We were assigned to re-design the courtyard and quad area which is currently a large patch of dead grass and old wooden benches. Thedesign for the new courtyard was done by Pacific Outdoor Living's owner Terry Morrill and includes pavingstones, pathways, 2 ponds, streams, a bridge, artificial turf, and full landscaping. The massive project will be completed within 5 days by 15 of our crew members. Once it's finished, it will be the centerpiece of the entire school for students to enjoy for the years to come. Stay tuned as we will post progress photos of the project and unveil the finished product at the end.
